Writing for Travelicious, how does it work?

I wanted to tell you a bit more about how I ended up creating a travel website. It is thanks to Travelicious, (check there website here). They are looking for freelance travel writers all over the world to create a revolutionary travel website/community. And they pay them!

How to write for them?

The process is super easy. Just apply here. Once your application has been validated, you’ll receive an email explaining you how to create a website. It is way easier than I expected. But yes you’ll have to pay… It cost me around 14€ for the domain name and web hosting.
You’ll also receive access to The Writers Academy learning program. It gathers all the information you need to know about blogging and managing websites.

I think it’s a great investment. Managing a website is a basic skill everyone should learn about.

Once your website is ready, send it to Travelicious for validation. And as soon as they accept it, you’re good to go : start writing – or typing !

I received my money on Paypal (40 AU $ = around 25€) even before I got published, so it’s not a scam.

But…

But there’s always a but…It seems that you can only write one article for them. So don’t get carried away and start counting how much money you can make in a month – as I did. I tried sending emails to Travelicious but I guess too many people did the same and no one answered me yet.

However, I still recommend the Travelicious writing program. Indeed, it covers the costs of creating your website and helps you in the process. And without it, I would never have taken the plunge!

Hey ! No you can’t make an income with Travelicious and I haven’t found any miraculous website that would do it… There are many offers for freelance writers, but none of them are long-term and provide a constant monthly income. If you find it let me know πŸ™‚

This has been very helpful! I wanted to try their service, but I am unsure if I can maintain a website. Thank you Leonore.

All the best from the Philippines.

Thank you very much for writing about how it works, i was about to create a blog with travelicious , but now i won’t, i was also calculating the amount of money i can make by writing, they have used good advertising strategy ‘write for us 40$ per 1000 words’ funny!
thank you for saving my time and money. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

Thanks for your message. I saw this comment by the writers’ academy. But I’ve been working on my blog for some time now and never had any news from them… so I kind of gave up on it ! If they invite you to write more let me know πŸ™‚

My article has only been up for less for a month, but their instructions on how I can write more for them have been pretty vague. I have no idea what standards they are looking for. The thing is, I also have no idea what they could possibly gain from running this scam. I’ve tried to think of how they’d benefit from just never paying me again (they paid me promptly and fairly for my first article), and I can’t think of it.

Anyway, I’d like another update on your situation, if you don’t mind. Thanks for posting this.

Hey Jeff ! I’m sorry but I can’t help you on that since I never understood myself what their “standards” are… According to the writers’ academy, you’ll be invited to write more if you work hard on your blog and gain followers.
I wouldn’t call it a scam since, as you said, they pay people promptly and fairly but it’s true that I don’t get their interest in all this… Publicity probably ! πŸ˜‰

Hello!!! My site was already accepted by travelicious but I do not know how to send my first article … could you help me? I do not know if I should first upload the article to my blog or send it first for approval.

      Hello !
If I remember well, there’s a button “send your article for approval” or something like that. You should first get it approved by travelicious before you publish it on your blog.
      Hope it helps !

      Have a nice day,

Someone asked what they would gain, I suppose you may 40 for longform content then you get/ encourage people to develop their own blogs, work super hard and get their own traffic, and only then are they invited again. So I guess in a way, they get cheap traffic to their site and quality inbound links to their site so they rank higher in searches… at least that’s my assessment of it

Hello ! You’re totally right for the cheap traffic and inbound links πŸ˜‰ Even if they pay for a few articles now and then it’s nothing compared to the advertisement they get from this operation !

Thank you for the information, I was considering to sign in but I had my doubts about this website specially about paying for sending my blog, when I can create a blog or use wordpress without any cost. and link it to the site. It was just too god to be true. Anyway good luck for all πŸ˜‰ !

Hello ! Don’t publish it on your blog or else Travelicious will never publish it (because of the double content rule on Google I guess). Maybe try emailing them ? Good luck πŸ™‚

France ain’t gonna work for me πŸ˜€ But, thanks anyway , everything was very helpful πŸ™‚

        Dear Leonore,
Thank you for your kind reply. For you, last time when you submitted your first article, did you put it on the writers.agency website or by emailing them? Thank you so much ^^

This is a one time thing, do you know any online jobs that are authentic for a constant income ? Doesn’t matter if it’s not writing articles
I think any would do for a student like me :p
P.s I’m from Pakistan so suggestions or websites that hire globally would be appreciated πŸ™‚
And yeah, this article was very helpful , thank you for taking time to inform everyone about it πŸ™‚

Hi, thanks for reading it, good to know it’s helpful πŸ™‚
I don’t know about a constant online job. Some of my friends works for Creme de la Creme (some kind of freelance platform) but I guess it only works in France… Good luck !

Hi! I was also interested in writing for them but now I thought not to do it. Well, it would be good if you’re starting a blog. If you’re really passionate and determined to blog, you should have one. I guess one way to get some good out of this would be to set up a blog with GoDaddy — then write for them once — then grow your blog — then move to a different site host after a year — then grow it some more. You profited about 11€ which is not so bad for starters. You can forget about writing for Travelicious after, and focus on your own blog. Well, that really depends on what’s your goal. Anyway, thank you so much for elaborating more on how it works–very helpful!

Hey ! Thanks a lot for your comment. You raised a really good point : moving to a different site host. Have you done it ? I’m considering it but it doesn’t seem that easy. Any advice ? Thanks in advance.

Hi, sorry for the late reply ! In a way they will help you by giving you access to articles but you’ll have to do the biggest part on your own ! Good luck πŸ™‚
